Silent Healer for Summer
With the official start of summer just around the corner, it’s time to make sure we are prepared for all the little joys of the hot months. Including the occasional sunburn, that we are more than likely to get. Even the most avid sunscreen wearers, get burnt now and again. BBQs, pool parties and chilling at the lake are just a few of my favorite summer time activities. Many times though, fun in the sun leaves me with a little reminder.
On one particular trip, to the local reservoir as a child, I got burnt so badly, that sleeping on my back the next few nights, was impossible. Sleeping period, would have been unattainable, if it had not been for our good ole’ family Aloe Vera plant. As I lay in agony, my Mom and savior, cut a leaf from this “silent healer”, (that’s what the Native Americans call it), and rubbed the slimy gel all over my cherry red back. Instantly the pain was gone, and the soothing coolness had knocked me out. When I would wake again in pain, all it took was a quick swipe of the leaf and the relief had me back snoozing in no time. Obviously, I have fond memories of my first experience with the “Plant of Immortality”!
Moisturizing and Soothing
