Are You Good in BED?

  • Sharebar

Of course I’m referring to your quality of sleep, get your mind out of the gutter, :-) lol.  However, not getting enough REST may lead to poor preformance in those bedroom activities as well.  After all, we all want to age gracefully and this article listed a poor sleep schdule, as the number one “harmless” habit that ages you.  So… Are you good in bed?  http://health.yahoo.net/rodale/PVN/9-harmless-habits-that-age-you

This is SERIOUS!!! The lack of adaquate sleep can turn the joyus journey of life, into a very bumby road.  Not enough Z’s may cause us to overeat and/or not be as equiped to deal with stress properly.  As a result causing even more serious complications.  In fact, “research links it to high blood pressure, diabetes, weight gain, and even just looking tired and older.” We also end up developing bad habits aimed at keeping our energy up and our daily stresses managable, like grande’ lattes and giant Monster energy drinks. These are so loaded with sugar, the crash we experience and the cravings that follow seem worse than the original issue. They may also continue the problem, by causing us to toss and turn all night, all over again, ugh!

When it comes to sleeping well, there may be a number of factors to consider. All the advice I’ve read, basically suggests one main thing, and that’s developing a solid bedtime routine.  It doesn’t have to be exactly the same for everyone, because we are all different. What works for one person, doesn’t always have the same effect for others. Check out this site though, it lists seven fabulous tips on creating nighttime rituals that will help you get proper REST. http://www.sleep-aid-tips.com/sleep-aid-sleep-routines-hygiene.html
They are as follows:
1. Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule including weekends.
2. Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath or hot tub and then reading a book or listening to soothing music. ( or journalling, a personal favorite)
3. Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.
4. Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows.
5. Use your bedroom only for sleep. (There ismost definitely an exception here:-))
6. Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before your regular bedtime.
7. Exercise regularly. It is best to complete your workout at least a few hours before bedtime.
